I’m going to have to paraphrase, as I heard this while driving on Sunday…
“No doubt I went in still harbouring some amount of blame; blame on them for what had happened. But there came a moment where I took full responsibility and gave up blame (on either of us), and said ‘it was my actions and my choices that has me here, has me wearing this silly jumpsuit’. It was immensely liberating, it was an almost transcendent experience – the freedom that came from giving up blame.
On their end, they wanted to be forgiven, and being forced to be in proximity was perfect for this, as I did forgive them. Forgiving someone is one of the most empowering things we can do as human beings. The power that came from that simple act was just what I needed to move forward in life.”
