Chicken Point Cabin by Olson Kundig Architects

Click for more project information

I’d seen a few works of Tom Kundig over the years, and remembered seeing the intricate and amazing armatures/mechanic bits that are in most of his projects.  But it wasn’t until I saw many of his works together that I realized, moreso than the armatures,  how exquisite his spaces were.  The armatures are not a silly gimmick, they are embedded within the whole to create and enhance the spatial quality of the work.  There’s a great play of roughness and refinement in his work, a quality of light that’s lovely, and interlocking and overlapping spaces and forms that make the works a delight.

The rooms seem alive, ready for people to bring their expressive excellence within.
